Mark your calendars!!!!!!
Since I will be leaving for IBAM (http://ibamchicago.com/) next Friday Oct. 11 and will be getting everything ready during this upcoming week, I thought I should send a newsletter?/update this weekend.
If there is any way you can make it to IBAM, do. Even for the day it would be worth it. Both Joan Kramer and I will be presenting at the Literary Salon that is organized by our very own Maureen Smith. Some of our other talented Celtic Women and some of our favorite authors are also presenting. And the Salon is only one part of the IBAM experience. There are plays and panel discussions and demonstrations and, of course, vendors and food.
As I will be on my way to Louisiana directly from IBAM, you may or may not hear from me until October 22.
We will be again celebrating Samhain together with a potluck on Sunday October 27 starting at 4PM. Dear Dorothy Rose has reserved the 1st Congregational Church , 1405 S. Hwy 67, Plymouth for the meal. Samhain is a very important time in the Celtic year.
It is the time that separates the light from the dark time of the year. It is the time the fields are gone dormant, the harvest is done. The space between us and our ancestors is very thin. It is a time to rejuvenate and prepare for new life. We gather together for a common meal. We try to emphasize the harvest foods. We bring place settings and place mats for those who have gone before so that they can be a part of our celebration.
Come please, bring yourself, your significant other and/or any other friends that might enjoy the feast. I think we bring our own table service and do not, for sure, forget to invite your ancestors and prepare a place for them also.
The last two scheduled events for the year are:
1. The BOOK DISCUSSION group will meet also at the 1st Congregational Church on Saturday November 16. We are discussing NORAH by Cynthia Neale. Please come even if you have not read the book to hear the discussion. You may want to read it. Also, it will give you the opportunity to suggest the next book for our bi yearly discussions.
2. Our 9th Annual Christmas Tea will be celebrated on Saturday, December 7th from 1 to 3PM at the Plymouth History Museum in cooperation with the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center. We Celtic Women bring tea cakes and cookies etc. I always bring fresh Irish Brown Bread. This is open to the public and is advertized.
We will be entertained by Matt Harvey and a group that play 52 Stafford on Wednesdays who call themselves 4 Reel. This is always my first taste of Christmas. Hope you make it yours also.
That is all
Take Care of You
